OuterSpacer Meteorites was founded by Sean Mahoney, whose lifelong fascination with exploration, natural history, science, and travel ultimately led him to the world of meteorites.

Durango, Mexico, for the total solar eclipse in April 2024
Originally trained in film, photography, and visual storytelling in London, Sean spent much of the 1990s travelling extensively throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas. What began as a passion for photography and adventure gradually developed into a deep interest in minerals, gemstones, and geological materials. Along the way, countless encounters with miners, collectors, traders, scientists, and local communities provided an education that could never have been found in a classroom.
Over the following decades, Sean built a successful international business specialising in gemstones, jewelry, minerals, and natural history items. This work involved sourcing material directly from producing regions around the world, developing relationships with suppliers, collectors, and researchers, and helping customers better understand the objects they were acquiring. These experiences laid the foundations for the values that continue to guide OuterSpacer Meteorites today: authenticity, provenance, education, and a genuine respect for the material itself.
Following a return to Europe after 20 years in Australia, an invitation to participate in a meteorite hunting expedition in northern Sweden rekindled a fascination with planetary science and opened the door to an entirely new chapter. What began as a single expedition quickly developed into a serious commitment to meteorites, tektites, impactites, and the broader field of meteoritics.
Today, Sean works with meteorite hunters, collectors, researchers, and institutions around the world, sourcing authentic specimens and helping collectors of all experience levels build meaningful collections. He remains actively involved in the meteorite community, attends major trade shows and exhibitions, and continues to participate in field activities whenever opportunities arise.
Now based in Andalucía, southern Spain, Sean serves a global community of collectors, educators, researchers, museums, and enthusiasts. The goal remains the same as it has always been: to make these remarkable objects accessible, understandable, and available to anyone who shares a curiosity about our solar system and the history recorded within it.
