Moldavite Cabachon

Moldavite Cabochons are polished pieces of genuine Moldavite, a rare green Tektite formed around 15 million years ago during the meteorite impact event that created the Nördlinger Ries crater in Germany. During this event, terrestrial material was melted, ejected, and rapidly cooled into natural glass before falling across parts of Central Europe. Most Moldavite is found in Czechia, especially in South Bohemia, and its distinctive green colour and impact origin make it one of the most recognisable Tektites in the world.

Unlike raw Moldavite, which often shows natural etching, grooves, and sculpted surfaces, Moldavite Cabochons are cut and polished into smooth rounded forms for setting, display, or jewelry use. They can range from pale olive to deep forest green, with varying translucency, internal bubbles, flow lines, and natural inclusions. The cabochon cut highlights the colour and depth of the glass while making the material more practical for pendants, rings, and other wearable designs.

For collectors, Moldavite Cabochons offer a refined way to appreciate genuine impact glass while retaining its scientific and geological significance. They combine the rarity and cosmic impact history of Moldavite with the usability of a polished gemstone-style form. Each cabochon represents natural Central European Tektite material, shaped first by an ancient impact event and later prepared for display or jewelry.
