Muonionalusta Filings

Muonionalusta Filings are fine particles of genuine Muonionalusta Iron meteorite, produced during the cutting, shaping, or preparation of larger specimens. Muonionalusta is a classic IVA Iron meteorite from northern Sweden, first discovered in 1906 near Kitkiöjärvi. As an Iron meteorite, it represents ancient iron-nickel core material from an early differentiated asteroid, formed over 4.5 billion years ago and preserved in metallic form.

Unlike slices or whole specimens, Muonionalusta Filings are collected as small metallic particles rather than solid display pieces. They may appear as fine grey to silver metallic grains, sometimes with darker oxidation depending on preparation and storage. Although they do not show Widmanstätten patterns individually, they retain the same meteoritic iron-nickel composition and origin as the parent Muonionalusta material.

For collectors, Muonionalusta Filings offer an accessible way to own genuine Swedish Iron meteorite material. They are especially suited for educational displays, small specimen vials, craft use, or collections focused on meteorite dusts and prepared material. Each vial or sample represents authentic asteroid core metal from one of the most recognised Iron meteorites in the world.
