Aletai is an Iron meteorite from Xinjiang, China, recognised for its large recovered masses and distinctive internal structure. Classified as an anomalous IIIE Iron meteorite, it represents ancient iron-nickel material formed within an early differentiated asteroid. After cooling slowly over millions of years inside its parent body, it was later fragmented by impacts and eventually reached Earth as part of one of the notable Iron meteorite finds.

Prepared Aletai specimens can show attractive Widmanstätten patterns when cut, polished, and etched. These interlocking metallic crystal structures formed during extremely slow cooling in space and are one of the defining visual features of many Iron meteorites. Aletai often displays a bold, coarse pattern, giving slices, end cuts, and etched pieces a strong visual presence. Natural exterior surfaces may also show weathering, texture, and character from their long terrestrial history.

For collectors, Aletai offers a well-recognised Iron meteorite with both visual appeal and scientific interest. Its anomalous classification adds an extra layer of distinction, while its availability in a range of specimen types makes it suitable for display, study, or inclusion in a wider meteorite collection. Each piece is a genuine fragment of ancient asteroid core material, preserved in metallic form for over 4.5 billion years.
