Brenham is a classic American Pallasite meteorite from Kiowa County, Kansas, USA, first recognised in the late 19th century near Haviland. It is associated with the Haviland crater and the surrounding Brenham strewn field, one of the most famous Pallasite localities in the world. Classified as an anomalous Pallasite, often listed as Pallasite-an or PMG-an, Brenham represents Stony-Iron material containing both iron-nickel metal and olivine from an early differentiated asteroid.

Specimens of Brenham can vary considerably in appearance, with some pieces rich in olivine crystals and others more metal-dominant. Cut and polished sections often reveal yellow to green olivine set within an iron-nickel matrix, while some etched metal areas may show internal crystalline structure. Natural pieces may display weathered exterior surfaces from long terrestrial exposure in the Kansas environment. Its variable metal-to-olivine ratio gives Brenham a wide range of visual character between individual specimens.

For collectors, Brenham offers a rare combination of historic American provenance, classic Pallasite structure, and direct association with a recognised crater field. Its long collecting history, large recovered masses, and presence in major museum collections make it one of the most recognisable Pallasites. Each specimen represents ancient asteroid material preserved as a mixture of metal and olivine, with a strong connection to one of the best-known meteorite localities in the United States.

Important information for all items

How the scales and gridlines work.

Each small square is 1x1mm, and each bold-lined square is 10x10mm, or 1cm² (1 square centimetre).

Imperial measurements.

1 inch is is easy to figure because it is about 25 small squares, which is 2½ bold squares.

The piece shown in the photo on the left (a Gebel Kamil Iron) is about 70mm from left to right, which is about 2¾ inches, and around 60mm (about 2⅓ inches) from top to bottom.
