Unclassified NWA Chondrites are meteorite specimens recovered from Northwest Africa that have not been formally classified by a laboratory. They are genuine Chondritic meteorites, usually identified through their physical characteristics, magnetic response, fusion crust, metal content, and internal structure, but they do not carry an official petrologic type or group designation. These specimens offer an accessible way to own real asteroid material without the higher cost often associated with fully classified meteorites.

Specimens can vary widely in appearance, depending on their composition and weathering history. Many show the classic features of Chondrites, including a grey to brown interior, small metallic grains, and in some cases visible chondrules. Natural exteriors may show weathered desert surfaces, remnant fusion crust, or wind-polished textures from long exposure in arid environments. Because they are unclassified, individual pieces should be appreciated as general Chondritic material rather than assigned to a specific H, L, LL, or Carbonaceous group.

For collectors, Unclassified NWA Chondrites are ideal as affordable display pieces, educational specimens, or entry-level meteorites. They provide a direct connection to early solar system material formed over 4.5 billion years ago, while remaining accessible to beginners and casual buyers. Each specimen is unique, preserving the character of a real meteorite find from one of the world’s most productive recovery regions.

How the scales and gridlines work.

Each small square is 1x1mm, and each bold-lined square is 10x10mm, or 1cm² (1 square centimetre).

Imperial measurements.

1 inch is is easy to figure because it is about 25 small squares, which is 2½ bold squares.

The piece shown in the photo on the left (a Gebel Kamil Iron) is about 70mm from left to right, which is about 2¾ inches, and around 60mm (about 2⅓ inches) from top to bottom.
