Gibeon is a historic Iron meteorite from Namibia, officially classified as Iron, IVA. The Meteoritical Bulletin lists Gibeon as an official meteorite name from Namaland, Namibia, with a recorded mass of 26 tonnes. Formed over 4.5 billion years ago within the metallic core of an early differentiated asteroid, Gibeon represents ancient iron-nickel material that cooled slowly before its parent body was disrupted and fragments eventually reached Earth.

This specimen displays the classic metallic character of an Iron meteorite and is especially known for its fine Widmanstätten pattern when cut, polished, and etched. As an IVA Iron, Gibeon belongs to a distinct chemical group with a recognisable structure and strong collector appeal. Natural pieces may show darker weathered surfaces, while prepared sections reveal the intricate crystalline texture formed during extremely slow cooling in space.

For collectors, Gibeon is one of the most desirable and recognisable Iron meteorites due to its Namibian origin, IVA classification, historic importance, and strong visual appeal. How the scales and gridlines work.

Each small square is 1x1mm, and each bold-lined square is 10x10mm, or 1cm² (1 square centimetre).

Imperial measurements.

1 inch is is easy to figure because it is about 25 small squares, which is 2½ bold squares.

The piece shown in the photo on the left (a Gebel Kamil Iron) is about 70mm from left to right, which is about 2¾ inches, and around 60mm (about 2⅓ inches) from top to bottom.
