NWA 13758 is a rare Rumuruti R3 Chondrite purchased in Algeria in 2017, after a large group of similar stones was reportedly found together in the Adrar region. Rumuruti Chondrites are an uncommon class of meteorite, known for their oxidised chemistry and distinctive differences from more familiar Ordinary Chondrites. Its type 3 classification indicates relatively primitive material, preserving early solar system textures with limited thermal alteration.

Specimens of NWA 13758 typically show a dark exterior, often naturally sandblasted from desert exposure, with interiors that can reveal a brecciated structure. Prepared pieces may display contrasting grey and brownish-orange lithologies, along with abundant visible chondrules. As is typical for Rumuruti Chondrites, NWA 13758 has very little free metal, with iron largely present in oxidised mineral phases rather than metallic grains.

For collectors, NWA 13758 offers a scarce opportunity to acquire a type 3 Rumuruti Chondrite with strong visual character and scientific interest. Its primitive classification, brecciated texture, and unusual chemistry make it a distinctive addition to Chondrite collections. Each specimen represents ancient asteroid material formed over 4.5 billion years ago, preserving a less common pathway in early solar system history.

Important information for all items

How the scales and gridlines work.

Each small square is 1x1mm, and each bold-lined square is 10x10mm, or 1cm² (1 square centimetre).

Imperial measurements.

1 inch is is easy to figure because it is about 25 small squares, which is 2½ bold squares.

The piece shown in the photo on the left (a Gebel Kamil Iron) is about 70mm from left to right, which is about 2¾ inches, and around 60mm (about 2⅓ inches) from top to bottom.
