NWA 13859 is a Lunar Feldspathic Breccia purchased in Morocco in 2021 after recovery from Northwest Africa. It represents fragmented material from the Moon’s ancient crust, created and reworked by repeated impact events before a later impact ejected it into space. With a reported mass of 2.045 kg across several pieces, NWA 13859 is a recognised Lunar meteorite with strong scientific and collector interest.

Specimens of NWA 13859 typically show a brecciated texture, with a mixture of mineral and rock fragments set within a finer lunar matrix. It is described as a Feldspathic Breccia and has also been noted for troctolite-rich material, giving some prepared pieces a varied and visually distinctive appearance. This combination of clasts and matrix reflects the impact-processed nature of the Lunar highlands, where ancient crustal material has been fractured, mixed, shocked, and reassembled over billions of years.

For collectors, NWA 13859 offers a documented Moon rock with both visual appeal and strong planetary significance. Its Feldspathic Breccia classification links it to the ancient Lunar crust, while its limited recovered mass makes individual specimens desirable within Lunar meteorite collections. Each piece represents genuine material from the Moon, preserving a direct connection to the surface history of our nearest celestial neighbour.

How the scales and gridlines work.

Each small square is 1x1mm, and each bold-lined square is 10x10mm, or 1cm² (1 square centimetre).

Imperial measurements.

1 inch is is easy to figure because it is about 25 small squares, which is 2½ bold squares.

The piece shown in the photo on the left (a Gebel Kamil Iron) is about 70mm from left to right, which is about 2¾ inches, and around 60mm (about 2⅓ inches) from top to bottom.
