NWA 15583 is a Lunar Feldspathic Breccia purchased in 2022 after recovery from Northwest Africa. It is a genuine Moon rock formed from fragmented lunar crust, created through repeated impact events across the lunar surface before a later impact ejected it into space. With a reported mass of 3.4 kg from a single stone, NWA 15583 is a well-documented Lunar meteorite representing ancient feldspar-rich highland material.
Specimens of NWA 15583 typically show a brecciated texture, with angular lithic clasts and mineral fragments set within a fine-grained, partly glassy matrix. Some clasts are reported to reach up to 2 cm, giving prepared slices and fragments a clear, varied structure.
