Saffordite is a rare natural glass found near Safford, Arizona, USA. It is often described in the collector market as a ‘pseudo-tektite’ or ‘Arizona Tektite’, although current geological interpretation generally places it within the Obsidian family rather than as a true impact-formed Tektite. This distinction is important, as Saffordite is best understood as a terrestrial volcanic glass with a tektite-like appearance, rather than confirmed meteorite impact glass.

Specimens of Saffordite are typically small, rounded, and naturally tumbled, with colours ranging from smoky brown to lavender, purple-grey, or subtly translucent tones depending on lighting and thickness.
