Canyon Diablo is one of the most famous Iron meteorites in the world, directly associated with Meteor Crater in Arizona, USA. The impact occurred around 50,000 years ago, when a large iron-nickel body struck the desert surface and formed one of the best-preserved impact craters on Earth. The meteorite is also known for accessory phases including troilite, graphite, cohenite, and schreibersite, and some shocked material contains tiny diamonds formed under extreme pressure.
